Women

I am passionate about working with women who feel stressed, overwhelmed, or are going through transitions in life. These women often experience self-doubt and school, work, health, or relationship-related anxiety, and long to learn healthy ways to cope with the accompanying difficult feelings.

I also feel at home working with teen girls who are intelligent and high-performing, but trying to manage anxiety about performance, friendships, school/college, and/or relationships. I find that these girls are the ones who are often “a pleasure to have in class” but are internally really struggling with how they feel about themselves, or might be masking all day and having big feelings that overflow onto their families when they get home in the evening. These girls also typically want to learn healthy ways to cope with their feelings, and I’ve seen great success teaching these skills to this population.

I have also worked with clients of all ages who are simply looking for a safe place to process life and better understand themselves with a neutral and non-judgemental person they can trust.

​Ultimately, my goal as a therapist is to help clients develop insight and understanding about the thoughts, actions, and life experiences that have brought them to where they are today. I want to create a space where they can accept themselves as they are and also learn new skills to help achieve their own goals of healing and growth.

Theory 

 

For referring colleagues or curious prospective clients,

my work is rooted in person-centered theory and rests on the foundation of approaching all clients with authenticity, unconditional positive regard, and empathy. However, I do like to pull from other theoretical orientations when I feel that it will benefit the client. Because all clients are different, there is no one size fits all template for therapy. When forming treatment plans with clients, I often utilize tools from the following frameworks:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MB-CT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Expressive elements such as art and music for clients who feel comfortable
